COOKING with JOYPALS

One of the joys of the Christian life is sharing the table with others.   Whether it is a simple supper at home, elaborate dinner, holiday or covered dish dinner, "breaking bread" together is a special blessing given to us from the Lord.

I love to cook, especially for company!  There are many ways to make a meal special (and folks to tell you how) and I would like to share a few of them:

• remember you are "serving" so keep your guests first;

• plan ahead and make it special with a theme, flowers, music, special touches that are uniquely yours (like a special Bible verse on a placecard with a recipe from the meal, or a little crafty item that you and the children make together);

• keep the "little ones" in mind;

• no matter how much or little you cook -- make it a feast!

Another thing I like to do is collect cookbooks, especially ones on sale from really great cooks.  But, I think the best cookbook is the one you create.  Start now by saving all your recipes and make your own.   There are cookbook program cd's you can purchase and there is even a cookbook publishing company to help you do it if you want lots of copies.  Cookbooks are fun to make and become a family heirloom!
